About Thomas Damen
By day I build AI. By night I think about humans.
I work at the intersection of AI, leadership, philosophy and history. My central question is how AI can make people more capable without taking over their judgment or responsibility.
Building with AI shows me what the technology can do. Philosophy and history help me see what those capabilities might do to us. The Stoics offer practical tools for judgment and responsibility. Earlier technological revolutions show that the instruments change, while the human questions return.

What should humans remain capable of?
AI should strengthen resourcefulness, creativity, intuition and independent thought, or remove unnecessary drudgery. It should not make people unable to understand, explain or own the choices made in their name.
